5 super-satisfying ways to stay hydrated

Eat fruits to stay hydrated in the monsooon

Do you forget to drink water in this weather? Easy, doable tips to stay hydrated and optimize your performance

Whether you’re a pro or an amateur dancer, martial artist, sportsperson or fitness trainer, you need to do enough and more to look after your body. Water is a big part of that. Try these to avoid those dehydration headaches!

  1. Get a fancy water bottle – It sounds too simple but a bottle branded with your favourite character or thing will have you reach for an otherwise somewhat dull activity. So recycle your old plastic bottle and get a new one that’s made of glass or stainless steel from one of these great stores – I like Miniso a lot 😍 There’s also Mumuso, Muji, Kioda, Usupo, Amazon, Flipkart, Chumbak, Wishing chair… We are spoilt for choices and you’ll easily find one which suits your budget. It’s not about consumerism, it’s about having no shame in investing in yourself and your self care.

2. Infuse your water with delicious nutrients – Add slices of fruits and some delish veggies to your water – lemon, lime or cucumber, seasonal berries, fresh mint leaves, basil, ginger. Get creative with it. It takes a minute and you’ll want to have it. It’s like a delicate squash, minus preservatives and aftertaste. Plus it leaves you refreshed and replenished with nutrients – common ones being Vitamin A, Vitamin C, folic acid, Magnesium, Potassium among others.

3. Get a Thirst alarm on your phone – In an ideal world, we wouldn’t need any alarms for downright basics like thirst, but some days or some workplaces or if you’re still working on your time management skills, these alarms are quite literally a life-saver. Get them from apple store or play store – several free and paid options. Solid self-care points and a creative solution to a perennial urban problem. In fact two – for awkward moments at your office, your glass can come in handy. Self-preservation is our right 😀

4. Eat fruits – Yes, fruits are loaded with water and vitamins and fiber and minerals. Some of us don’t like infused water. Seasonal fruits are the answer then. Nature knows and grows what’s best for you. Carry a fruit or two to work and see your energy levels surge. If you can’t be bothered, step outside and have fresh coconut water.

5. Carry ORS with you – For anyone who’s into physical activity, especially dancers, athletes, martial artists, fitness trainers or enthusiasts, this is a no-brainer. We spend hours working on our craft and we need to replenish your body with the salts we lose while sweating. Your body will thank you and you will save your internal organs from avoidable strain.

Stay hydrated peeps! Monsoon moisture keeps the skin soft, but all the cells in your body need water to function optimally, including those in your heart, brain, and all key organs. Practice these tips and let us know which one worked out for you! Peace out 🙂
